Tennis champ Borris Becker plans to play poker

After winning six grand slam tennis events on the tennis court, Borris Becker is now thinking to take over the game of poker as well. He is expected to take on a succession of online qualifiers when the unique "Battleship Poker" event gets in progress at the forthcoming PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in Nassau, the Bahamas. Accepted as an amusing part of the PCA, the event has been held annually since 2006. It presents two players squared off against each other heads-up with their laptops remain displayed in the classic board game style. The four online qualifiers ready to play against Becker are Josh Miloy of Oley, Itsik Oknin (Ontario), Keith Anderson (Quebec) and Michel Dion (Quebec).

Becker says, "Battleship poker gives you all the fast play luxuries of online poker, but also allows you to look your opponent in the eye. It's an exciting game to play and I'm really looking forward to competing against these players."

Since years, poker has been a captivating recreational activity for Becker and now, he is all set to be as fine with poker as he was with tennis. “When I was still playing professional tennis, I started learning to play poker casually in-between games because it helped me to improve my concentration,” Becker has said. “Now I want to develop my poker skills and challenge myself to become really competitive at the highest levels in poker.”

Becker has already started poker training program for knocking out his champion's drive as he eyes on some of the major poker tournaments around the globe. According to Becker, he would be first seen on the European Poker Tour at Dortmund in his native Germany and the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo next spring.
