Is Poker more a game of skills than luck?

On Feb. 13, a South Carolina judge will hear arguments on a very dubious statement- Is poker a game of skill rather than luck, as he considers whether or not, the five men caught up in a poker raid are guilty.

Preceding month, handed a victory to the defense team of the players when Municipal Court Judge J. Lawrence Duffy, Jr. ruled that he would allow evidence and proof that are capable to convince him that poker is more a game of skill than luck.

Moreover, the decision would not only get the unlawful gambling charges sacked off, but it would also let the legislators elucidate the antiquated anti-gambling law that prohibits any game played with dice or cards. The case would be first of its kind, in the America, where poker would be lawfully ruled a game of skill.

The incident took place almost three years back in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina,
when Bob Chimento, Scott Richards, Michael Williamson, Jeremy Brestel, and John Taylor Willis got charged with illegitimate gambling for playing small-stakes tournament poker.

Like the other several dozen poker players charged with illegal gambling in April 2006, they too had a way out by making a nominal fine. However, for the spirit of the game, they decided to stand against the charges in the hopes of dissolving the antediluvian law that law officials use to charge poker players there.

Last summer, Judge Duffy turned down the idea of dismissing the case, but the charged players took it as a break when the judge decided to allow the skill-versus-luck argument to be made.

Phil Ivey confirms to take Durrr challenge

Phil Ivey confirms that he will take on his million-dollar online poker challenge along with David Benyamine and Patrick Antonius
Phill Ivey has come up like a solid answer to all those people who believed that nobody would dare to take the durrrr million dollar challenge. On PokerRoad Radio, he confirmed that he has already mentioned it to Tom "durrrr" Dwan that he is all set to go for his million-dollar online poker challenge. Also, he informed that Benyamine will be the fisrt to attempt the challenge while Antonius waits in the wings for a shot at it.
For your information, according to the durrrr challenge, Dwan is ready to put up $1.5 million to a challenger's $500,000 playing four tables at a time heads-up with least $200/$400 stakes.
The game is quite complicated as they all have to bear a minimum of 50,000 hands, and in case the challenger ends up with even a dollar more than where he started in the beginning of the match, he wins durrrr's $1.5 million. On the contrary, if durrrr wins, he will have the player's $500,000 including the amount they won while playing. Except for Phil Galfond, anyone can take this challenge.
Phil does acknowledge that admits durrrr will at the start have the edge as he tunes to playing four tables straight away, but he is primarily depending on durrrr not comprehending how many hands 50,000 hands really is. Thereby, he will get time to catch up and it is quite probable that someone will go penniless in this deadly challenge.
"You know what, the funny thing is he probably does have an edge," Ivey, on PokerRoad has said. "But you know, like, I don't know, it's just something tempting about that million and a half to that $500,000."
